After 6 hrs in the car we were exhausted on top of all the other driving so we were delighted to arrive at Matt and Alyssas house in the Virginia Park district of Detroit
After 20 mins of hellos we started emptying the car and cleaning ready to sell.
The new and existings kids on the block started playing and then later the banjo was the focal point
Behind are three empty lots that are being cultivated by our hosts
They make nicotine inhalers. Run airbnb and fix bikes in the basement. Make clothes and grow veg. 13000$ was the purchase price of this 6 bedroom 2 bathroom property 2 years ago. Our hosts dont do rat race work for another. Airbnb plus the extras have funded all the renovation. So they are here most of the time fixing growing maintaining. In the few hrs we were outside on the first night there were a few fast cars. A few loud ones. Some loud music but most of all a variety of friendly neighbours passing by commenting on the garden.
These 3 are within 25 metres on the same block.
Overall it feels lovely here
