Day off in Akaroa

After a morning run in blue sky country for me which was quite beautiful, we headed off for a day in the town of Akaroa nr the centre of the Banks peninsular. Again carefully navigating the windy roads we headed to the library to top up all things internet and publish the previous blog. Esme and Rowan played a simple numbers computer game. Then into town on scooters.

Quiet. Beautiful. Picturesque.  Surrounded by hills. Warm weather but not too hot. Laid back. Not too many people. Rowan didnt like homemade bread sandwiches so by the time we bought some food there had been much whining about ice cream and chips.

Walking to the other part of town we saw a bit of seafront probably damaged by the quake.  Then back to Le Bons Bay to meet our hosts for a nz experience.

As stuart and liam know the water and banks where the river meets the bay, they were running around in it, our two just followed as they knew it would be safe. It was lovely to see them all so free.

I met a lady with a bag of seaweed for her garden. Of course I suggested she soak it and eat it instead.  It turned out she knew Oxford. At one point we got onto the subject of the grey vote

Later in the evening we had a "mirror" beach all to ourselves.
