So I had the pleasure of tims company for most of the day. We shared our favourite parts of Wild at Heart. I told him about Robert Bly, shamanism, counselling training, he told me his story, about church, aitout his views of religion, rites of passage. And a lot more besides.

He told me that my host john, who is his fatherinlaw invited 6 friends round as a surprise one week before tim became a father. Each father passed on wisdom about fatherhood to tim.

Needless to say car sharing was a timeless pleasure. We had a lot in common and had travelled similar humps, wounds and joys. Tim was open secure and not defensive about christianity. Thankfully he was also a safe driver without an ego so I didnt need to worry about how we were going up and down the tracks.

Keeping up
from the sunroof

we had a walky talky in each truck. So whilst moving in convoy comments heard by all might be

"think ive missed that turn" (leading truck)
or
"motorcycles coming"
or
"guy check out the eucalyptus ahead, Its a new variety"
or
(after going down a steep one) "did anyone bottom out?"
or
"piece of cake"(after going up a steep one well)
or
"did anyone pick our english friend up?"(as i would sometimes move trucks after filming a climb) To which i would say "yes thanks i am riding with ##### at the moment"

blue tongued lizard (couple of steaks worth)

we found it in the shade and it got more lively as it was handled in the sun
After lunch where tea was made and homemade chilli sauages were shared and conversation continued we found a steam engine used to hall lumber around 120 yrs ago
we would occasionally jump out leaving all doors unlocked and go "bush bashing" . Dust inside and out side the car was smearable. Scratches on truck sides growing, bezt viewed as 'badges of honour' said Tim.
paul who was "tail end charlie" only had to use his chainsaw once when our way was blocked so he had to drive past us all to get to the front.
a great day for me a very authentic auzzy experience.
when I got home john and judy had helped sarah with the children all day so It was lovely for her to not be totally frazzled whilst i was having fun
thanks everyone i gained a lot of perspective and had my community and brotherhood inner tanks topped up again
i will remember for a long time
xxx
