YallournN-doing jobs

This chainsaw is electric(battery) slower, quieter and has fewer chain teeth per inch in comparison to petrol driven ones.  Its like cuddling a guinea pig instead of trying to tame a wild animal  (saw we have at home), hence the children do not run inside and stare through the sliding doors, as soon as the saw is picked up (as they do at home).

So the kids can be around one after previously just watching from inside.

we then had alovely hour where we were lopping and limbing and the kids were putting the leafy bits in a pile and generally wandering around. We can be around them most of the day on this trip which for me is much more than i saw them at home.
most of the trees here are Eucalyptus which Is good burning wood. wood burning inside is needed for about 3 months of the year. Not now. The heat has returned with a vengeance. Aussy slang is "gum" tree
imagination said this was a carriage.

Janina has an Impressive ability to pluck the right tool from a dusty drawer in her garage or out house or house. So we are trying to consolidate them all into one place but the roof had holes in the chosen spot so its being replaced.
kids wwre under the weather for a day this week so sarah looked after them whilst bringing new life to old and repairing a croc we had been carrying for 2 months broken. when do we find time at home?

last night we watched Spellbound by Hitchcock on vhs (OP shop had ten for 1aus$)
even though we cant carry them on from here.
it was made In 1945 before humanistic and behavioral therapies and focussed on a psychiayric institution where "analysts" worked and had plenty of terminology. It was occasionally of its time regarding women but not too warped. Again we never had time at home. To watch

YallournN-a wander round

Old butcher
9
Same road many decades ago
At one point here 3 dogs began barking at the same time from behind their gates. Reminded us of
Thailand we agreed
yes there really were no cars
The world stops for a playground. As Sarah was working heRe i haD a few minutes gazing at the distance and the light green rolling hills used for grazing, with dark green topped trees at their top.  We will only be here once.
What is it like to live here all the time?
why do people live here?
what sort of people live here?
can I deduce anything by looking at their houses or their trucks or their front gardens?
is the town waxing or waning overall?
how long is the commute to Melbourne?

in the sun it feels much better
i suppose i wrongly may assume that quiet equals depressed

But it is beautiful countryside here

And next week will be hitting highs if 37c! Yippee!! Great fly weather.. Boo hoo!!

YallournN-Monstera Deliciosa

Aparently these can be grown at home

also known as swiss cheese plant its a bit like a cross between a banana and a pineapple.

in other spheres we have been emptying a garage (janina did a swap with a bloke in the village) as/so loads of junk is lying around. Including gameboy steering wheels and real headlights and dash boards from old cars
after seeing the Bond Aston Martin in the museum the kids are now practicing oil slicks and smoke bombs to escape their imaginary pursuers
when the branches fall over the fence into next door the neighbours take a keen interest
Aparently it was a dog kennel behind the fence

And this..

To try and get rid of the blasted things!

YallournN-what are we doing here?

Specially for an inquisitive Mrs Magee......

We are staying in a 3 bed former SEC house owned by Janina who is our helpx host. After reading her profilec we rang her before xmas and then skyped. So she provides the food and house and as she is a self confessed no likey cooker we are doing the cooking too. So we are doing mainly outdoor work for 3 to 5 hrs a day which is great because the kids come out and start messing about instead of wanting to watch star wars or my little pony.

so they have learnt that mixing 3 primaries makes brown but if they mix just two they get new colours. Upon discovering this they wanted to just mix mix mix and forget actual painting. They were occasionally painting the polystyrene from this
i have heard of ladies hammers but never handbag hammers! This would definitely fit in a handbag

. Its the coldest here out of any place we have been so yestaerday we charity shopped long trousers for the kids and long tops for us. Houses here have chimneys here whereas in Queensland they dont at all.
