French island Barter Market

Today was the first French Island bartering market swapping what seemed to be loads of stuff - spare plates, odd bits of cutlery,  some home made bread and a fruit crumble, some local peaches and nectarines, a box of potatoes, some comfrey oil and cream (brilliant for bruises), in the end we had two trelis tables full of stuff!

To begin with when nobody arrived we felt a bit sorry for our host but within a few minutes it was really busy and a roaring success.

After much coming and going and swapping and reswapping we ended up with as much as we had arrived with! It was good fun abd hopefully the first step in bringing a rather splintered island community together.

The children were making new friends with the 17  when suddenly they came running over to tell me thst they had spotted a koala in the tree..

It was busy doing its own thing and not at all phased by 17 children!

Finally getting the tired children to bed after a foot bath..
