Yallourn - at the skate park

Chasing a marble. It was after this visit that we got a pair of jeans for each child.

later a tall thin young dad appeared in his navy and orange overalls after just finishing work, and tan steel toe capped boot with his 4 year old daughter and her xmas skate board. He was demoing how to swivel on her small pink board. She felt safer laying flat and shouting "rock and roll" as she zoomed along in her pink top and blue jeans. Jake had blond hair, a soft auzzie accent, a dimpled smile, a recovering overstretched ear lobe and an eye brow piercing. He was also a single dad as his former partner wasnt interested in custody. She had gotten into drugs. Jake was not bitter and saw her also as a victim.

he was really gentle and friendly as he supped on his premixed coke and bourbon from a can and spoke about how lucky he was to be able to be an active involved dad to his daughter. He was apprenticed in boiler making and welding and worked part time earning a very decent rate. His support network was good as his divorced parents -both remarried- all lived In town and he got every other weekend off to go out. He said many potential partners wanted to meet his daughter but he had to think carefully about who and when to introduce to little miss rock n roller.

no picture as i thought it a bit OTT on a first meet.

Yallourn North next 2 weeks

About 2 hours east of Melbourne it is a former SEC (State Electricity Commission) village for the workers of the lical power plant. Houses were sold off to the locals in the 80's. Population 1500 it is small and hilly and in the unseasonally gray weather and few people around can seem a little bleak on occasion but lovely in sun and when close tobthe hills. However people are friendly when we speak. There are many churches including areas only mosque and a Serbian orthodox church. One shop on pub one Op shop. One cafe. Bowls club.swim pool and skate park.
Yallourn north was originally named Brown Coal Mine in 1917 when Brown Coal was first open cast mined. Workers lived in tents. Current name came in 1947.

The other nearby company town planned and maintained by the SEC company called just Yallourn was established 1920's. But then bulldozed during 70's to allow open cast mining to carry on where it resided.
